An Educational Development Plan (EDP) is a required career and academic planning tool for Michigan students in grades 7–12. EDPs help students identify their interests, strengths, career goals, and educational pathways while developing a personalized plan for success beyond high school. Students are required to review and update their EDP annually to reflect their evolving interests, academic progress, and postsecondary goals.
At UPSM High School, students will use Overgrad, our college and career readiness platform, to complete and update their EDPs. Through Overgrad, students will:
Explore Careers: Complete career interest assessments and research careers that align with their strengths, skills, and interests.
Set Academic Goals: Identify educational goals and monitor their progress toward graduation.
Research Postsecondary Options: Explore colleges, universities, trade schools, apprenticeships, and other career pathways.
Develop a Postsecondary Plan: Identify the education, training, or credentials needed to achieve their career goals.
Build College and Career Readiness: Explore scholarships, admission requirements, and opportunities that support their future plans.
Why Is This Important?
EDPs are more than a graduation planning requirement. They empower students to make informed decisions about their education and future careers. By completing their EDP in Overgrad, students will develop a personalized roadmap connecting their high school experiences to their postsecondary aspirations.
All students are expected to complete and update their EDP annually through Overgrad as part of Michigan's educational planning requirements.
